Meccha Chameleon

Meccha Chameleon is a multiplayer hide-and-seek game where camouflage depends on how well you can paint your own character. Rather than transforming into nearby furniture or objects, you begin as a white character and manually recreate the colors of the environment. A successful disguise comes from choosing the right location, matching visible surfaces, and controlling your pose before the Seekers start searching.

Create Your Own Camouflage

The preparation phase in Meccha Chameleon is where Hiders need to make the most of the environment. Before painting, find a location where your character can naturally fit into the scenery. The goal is not to cover yourself with one matching color, since different parts of the background may require separate shades.

  • Match the surroundings: Sample colors from walls, floors, and nearby objects to build a disguise that belongs in the scene.
  • Use different shades: Paint the visible parts of your body according to the colors and patterns around your hiding position.
  • Shape the silhouette: Choose a pose that makes your character's outline less noticeable from the expected viewing angle.
  • Check your work: Rotate the camera after painting because lighting, shadows, and viewing angles can change how convincing the camouflage looks.

Think Like a Seeker

In Meccha Chameleon, seekers have the opposite task: locate players who have been painted to disappear into the map. Rather than searching only for obvious movement, inspect the environment for details that do not quite fit. A slightly unusual color, an unnatural body outline, or a shape that appears where it should not be can reveal a Hider. Looking at the scene as a collection of patterns is useful because well-hidden players may blend into ordinary surfaces rather than stand out immediately.

Controls for Painting and Searching

  • WASD: Move around the map.
  • Mouse: Look around and inspect your surroundings.
  • F: Open the paint menu.
  • Left Mouse Button: Paint your character.
  • Middle Mouse Button: Copy a color from the environment.
  • Mouse Wheel: Change brush size.

The multiplayer format also gives Meccha Chameleon plenty of variation between rounds. A hiding place that works once may become easy to predict later, especially when playing with people who learn your habits.
